Case Study 2

A Malaysian Government Agency had deployed a corporate portal that was accessed by all its employees throughout the country. The Portal was built on IBM WebSphere running on a load-balanced Unix server cluster.

Due to the congested networks and low bandwidth of many of the more remote branches or the Agencies, the Portal's performance was causing unnecessary frustration among its users, who needed to rely on it to perform their daily work.

The numbers clearly showed a performance increase of more than 65% faster. Bandwidth utilisation was also measured and proven to be 77.5% less.

Users immediately reported that the performance was now more acceptable hence saying the government agencies from upgrading their Wide Area Network (WAN) leased lines throughout the country, which would have taken more than a year and would have costs millions of Ringgit. Not to mention, the yearly recurrent costs.

Return on Investment for this project was estimated at more than 12,000% with cost avoidance easily in the region of more than 30 times.
